But the service was by far the best service I’ve ever had. Also give that Charlie a raise!!! He was very chatty and very professional I would definitely want him as my waiter in any restaurant

When I... read more asked where our food was a waitress came over with menus but we had already ordered and had been waiting about an hour at this stage, she said it will come out soon then another 40 minutes passed and I asked again where our food was which finally came out over 20 minutes later. When our food arrived it was cold and nobody apologized or even acknowledged us.

  We made our reservation at one of our trusted casual dining favourites in Cork. Having been there on a recent visit to Cork in late September we anticipated more of... read more the same - that was an assumption too far.
I noticed a change in kitchen staff as we walked in and took our seats, that was swiftly followed by a much reduced menu with some stalwarts missing. Waiting staff appeared not particularly well organised but what followed was shocking.

I decided upon a starter and that was an indication that the kitchen had lost the plot. The bbq wings were smothered in a quite disgusting dark brown gloop disguising quite horribly cooked wings - chewy glutinous skin, quite awful. I didn’t eat them all, leaving half and hiding the remainder under the napkin to avoid the recurring desire to retch. The main course was utterly embarrassing - a Luke warm chicken breast that had very evidently been pre-cooked and insufficiently re-heated before being thrown in a cold chewy bog-standard bun and completely devoid of flavour.

So, a meal that bad, why the 1 star - the IPA earned the lone star, something not mucked up by a kitchen devoid of talent.

What a complete waste of time. We’ve always enjoyed our trips to CoqBull and never had a less than perfect meal these past few years, but this was unforgivable, we’ll not be back. There are far too many good places in Cork city far more deserving of your cash. Whatever you did, get the chef back.
